I'm Michael Makoid, President of WWMAA, and I'm honored to welcome you into a community built on a simple conviction: martial arts are not only something you practice — they are a way of life.

Whether you are a lifelong practitioner, a new student, a parent seeking a safe training environment, or an instructor committed to doing things the right way, I invite you to explore WWMAA and the resources we provide.

Dr. Michael C. Makoid, Ph.D.

Welcome from the Board of Governors

WWMAA exists to support martial artists who believe that character matters as much as technique. WWMAA is committed to transparency, ethical governance, and responsible stewardship.

We are proud of our roots in the legacy of O-Sensei Philip S. Porter, whose lifelong work emphasized discipline, humility, scholarship, and ethical leadership. His vision reminds us that martial arts are not about ego or shortcuts, but about consistent effort, personal responsibility, and service to others.

Our Code of Ethics provides the framework, but it is our daily actions that give it life. We invite you to join us in preserving the true spirit of martial arts — for today's practitioners and for generations to come.
